Lower Haight Strret Art on the News

It's nice to live in a neighborhood where the limits of creative expression is a vigorous and equally sided debate. Featured on the local news on Wednesday: including the Lower Haight Mural (and fleeting glimpses of my contribution), D-Structure, and Lower Haighters.

Opposites

The show "Opposites" opened at Wonderland last Wednesday but things have been so busy I'm just now getting around to the pictures. Each artist was asked to do a little wall installation that tied into their work. I opted for the simple route (around a fresh new piece) but some were extremely ornate and I think the variety makes for a pretty compelling show.

120 degrees and rising

No better place to go on birthday trip than Death Valley. Ghost towns and abandoned awesomeness, creepy motels, and wide open roads with no cops. A little heat never hurt anyone...?!?!

Mission Adventures

Art everywhere, big ass burritos and the summer heat - great time in the Mission today. And I finally got one of the lucha libre masks that I've been eying every time I go down to 24th street.

Sun in an Empty Room

I'll be up in Seattle this Thursday, June 9th for the artists' reception of Sun in an Empty Room: Ode to Hopper at ArtsWest in West Seattle. If you can't make it, the show will be up all month, and if you just aren't in Seattle you can see the new work online (sometime this week.) Can't wait to swap the San Francisco rain for some Seattle sun!??

My Wonderland

My Wonderland is sex in a foggy carnival. Like clicking through a ViewMaster while riding a roller coaster. Each thought of Wonderland is quickly overtaken by then next. Glances within opulent structures, flying across foreign landscapes. I wanted to create a space filled with fragmented emotions and I wanted it to be a little overwhelming. Euphoric and dizzy. And as a Wonderland is a human construction, I also wanted it to be a little dark and creepy.

Wonderland Anniversary

One year anniversary for Wonderland tonight, 6-10pm down in the Mission. I got a sneak peak of the show yesterday and I'm proud to be one of the sixty artists paying tribute to Irene and her awesome store.
