96 Hours

"Imaginative meeting of space, S.F. architecture, old west in exhibition of paintings"

Extremely late on this too, but I've gotta catch up on stuff sometime. Very nice piece from Stephanie Hession for the S.F. Chronicle that ran the day before the opening. Much love to the blogs but words hold more weight when you can hold the paper they're printed on. Hope that newspapers and magazines don't die!

Read it here.

The framed copy in photo is from the gallery. Mine has a much more ornate, gold frame.

Opening Photos

A little late but here are some pics from the opening of All the Go Inbetweens at 111 Minna. Really awesome night and thanks again to everyone who came out. It's up through this Saturday, April 28th, so only a few days left to check it out.

All The Go Inbetweens

All The Go Inbetweens, my largest solo show yet, opens at 111 Minna gallery in San Francisco tomorrow. It represents the most concentrated effort I have yet to undertake in my career as an artist and I'm exhausted and proud and very excited for people to see everything. There's endless things to debate about with art but I think a main reason for producing it is to make people (and yourself) happy, and I think that's pretty cool. If the subject matter is sad or disturbing I think there's always a positive element if someone can make a connection with it. It's not the art that I'm compelled to create but even with something like a demon raping a teddy bear, you can say "boy I really admire the rendering on that demon penis" and then you're a little bit happier. But I digress.

If you're not able to make it to San Francisco then you can preview the show here (don't click if you're coming to the show or you'll spoil it). I look forward to seeing everybody that comes out tomorrow and I appreciate all the support that's got me to this point.

A little clip from the install here.

Almost There

I've been holed up for too long!! It's almost time to re-enter the world an celebrate. First, an announcement from a special part of my body...

La Jungla

Opening for "La Jungla" on Friday at Wonderland SF. Great turnout and it's always nice when people want to take the art home! Very happy that I squeezed in time to do a new piece. It dovetailed nicely with some of the work I'm doing for 111 Minna so it serves as a sneak peek for All the Go Inbetweens, opening April 6th.

Fluorescent Fish

A quick trip to Palm Springs and the Salton Sea. Didn't find any of the abandoned motels I hoped for and the decaying yacht club was "sadly" refurbished. Dust to dust people...!
